Thanksgiving is a comin'

First, Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I wish that we could be home to enjoy a lot of good food and everyone's company together. I bought things for a small Thanksgiving meal for Jay and I. Some turkey, stuffing, potatoes, and the ingredients to make a pumpkin pie. Jay and I also decided to run the Thanksgiving morning Turkey Trot before we stuff ourselves with food and ultimately have the inability to function. I'll be posting photos from the fun. I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Fall so far

 A little fun in Chicago
 Resting, Post Marathon
 Our carved Halloween Pumpkins
Taking the ladies on a nice walk
 Daddy and Guinny
Two happy ladies

Just a few pictures of the fall adventures so far. It's hard to think that it is actually fall, here, in Texas. The temperatures are still creeping toward 80 degrees most days, so we are all trying to enjoy it before we start getting our windy, chilly weather.

Happy Fall everyone!

It's Friday!

Happy Friday! Last weekend, Jay and I went to the pumpkin patch! We got a lot of cool, different size pumpkins so that we can carve this weekend! Jay picked a very elaborate Harry Potter image to put on his pumpkin and I chose a not so elaborate dog face to carve into my pumpkin. I'm not very good at carving pumpkins. I just don't have that knack so I decided to picking something that once I'm done doesn't look like a bunch of cuts and lines with no definite distinction about what it is.

The field of pumpkins. There was so many to chose from!
Just a picture to make you smile!
Our haul of pumpkins that we finally decided on!
He found the perfect one!!!

So, we are going to attempt to carve these wonderful pumpkins and hopefully I don't ruin the one that I got. Hey, at least even if the pumpkin is ruined I will still be able to eat the pumpkin seeds! Yahoo!!! I will post the outcome!

Chicago Marathon 10.7.2012

Well, the Chicago Marathon has come and gone! It was an amazing weekend! The race was quite overwhelming. Roughly 46,000 runners and a crowd that never ended the entire 26.2 miles. I have a lot of amazing pictures from the weekend!

I ran 4:24. No pain, just a lot of soreness that had me grimacing for like the last 8 miles of the race. It was such an amazing experience!

My name on the wall that has all the runners in the marathon
Not sure where this is but apparently I'm still happy here!
Jay making a sign for me!
 Freezing before the race.
Happy at mile 20. Eating some pretzels (see the big chipmunk cheeks filled with pretzels)
 All done!
Just a slight show of the crowd. The crowd never thinned and it was this crowded the entire race!

Here we go!

Today is the day! Jay and I are heading to Chicago! I'm not sure what I'm not excited for, running the biggest marathon that I have ever been a part of or seeing many people (some of which we haven't seen in almost two years). I have an agenda when I'm there!

- First off, finding our hotel from the airport. Agenda #1. Most important thing! :)
- Getting to the expo to get my number and race paraphernalia!
- Meeting up with our family (Leslie and Kyle) and friends that live there!
- RUNNING THE CHICAGO MARATHON! (See what I did there? Most important reason for going. What I have been training for for the last 6 months. What I have endure the worst altitude and dust running environment to do.)
- Doing a little shopping (Of course I can't go to Chicago without shopping for something.)
- Eating at so many good restaurants that we don't have here in the dust bowl!

Well that is about it! That is the list of things to accomplish there! Once we get back, I will post some of the best pictures from the trip. I plan on making this scrapbook that I saw on pinterest with all the pictures and things from this weekend! See you all on Monday!

2 weeks and counting

Less then two weeks until Jay and I travel to Chicago. I feel like I'm ready to go and that it will be a fun time for us. We will get to see some family and friends that we haven't seen in awhile. Plus, we will be enjoying the city for a weekend and get away from our work and the desert (The best part). I got my race brochure in the mail last week (Yes the Chicago Marathon sends race brochures). I can't wait to go to a expo that has more then three vendors and also run a race that has more then 5,000 runners. I feel like I will spend more time taking pictures then worrying about splits and times. Hopefully that causes me to run faster then I think and not worry about how sore my legs are becoming (haha). I keep overlooking the race course and I try to think about which spots will be the best places to take pictures of the people running and the experience. I'm not sure how much I will actually think about it or remember to take the pictures! Well, hopefully the experience is just as exciting as I'm making it out in my head to be! We shall see!
